The Phobia Library

Explore by category, or search for a fear by name

Nothing here opens with a frightening picture. Pages are text-first, written in plain language, and never describe you as irrational.

Many internet phobia lists contain informal, humorous, obsolete or invented terms. Every entry here is labelled: recognized diagnostic category, commonly used descriptive name, informal internet term, or a fear experience that may belong to another condition.

Your fear may be intense, but it does not make you broken.

  • This site offers education, not diagnosis.
  • A fear response is not a moral failure.
  • Not every uncommon fear is a psychiatric disorder.
  • Treatment should be consensual.
  • Exposure should never involve genuine danger.
  • Never stop prescribed medication based on a website.
  • Medical symptoms should not be assumed to be anxiety.
  • You never owe anyone the origin of your fear.
  • Progress can mean participating while still afraid.
  • Hard days do not erase the progress behind them.
